We will be holding our annual gala dinner which will include the silent auction for our charity of the year.
NASBM Charity of the year:

We will be donating to our chosen charity of the year, Diabetes UK, by holding a raffle and silent auction at the conference. ‘’There are currently 4 million people in the UK living with diabetes, including an estimated 549,000 people who have Type 2 diabetes but do not know it. That is 1 in 16 people, and this figure is rising. A further 11.5 million people in the UK are at increased risk of getting Type 2 diabetes in the near future.
Every 3 minutes somebody is told they have diabetes in the UK. Diabetes is the biggest public health issue of our time accounting for 10% of the NHS budget, that’s £1 million every hour spent on treating diabetes and its complications. Diabetes UK is the leading diabetes charity in the UK and they are there for everyone living with diabetes, their families, friends and carer’s. Click here to see the items donated so far.

Testimonials
This was my first NASBM Conference and I was so very impressed with the exceptional quality of the speakers, including those exhibitors who presented workshop sessions. The presentations by Danny Crates & Steve Cunningham were also truly motivational and inspiring. Also all of the exhibitors were relevant to our roles as SBM's. I've already shared with my Headteacher this morning that this is one of the best and most effective conferences that I have attended.
Amazing and very useful experience - thank you!

She graduated from Oxford University with a BA in Classics in 2006 and began her working life teaching in an independent school. Prior to joining The Key in March 2015, she spent nearly five years at the charity Business in the Community- initially in the CEO’s team and then managing the Education Campaign which aimed to get more businesses to work in partnership with schools. She has also worked in policy at the Charity Commission and as a researcher at Buckingham Palace. She is currently the chair of governors at a primary school in Hackney.
Dr Paul Armstrong
Dr. Paul Armstrong is Lecturer in Education at the Manchester Institute of Education, University of Manchester where he teaches on MA programmes in educational leadership and management and research methods. His main research interests are contemporary forms of educational leadership and management while his current research agenda concerns the evolving role and influence of school business managers in England. Paul has previously worked at the University of Nottingham and University College London on two international research projects exploring leadership and policy enactments in schools in England and Hong Kong and the working practices of young school leaders in London, New York and Toronto.
Nigel Risner
As the only motivational speaker in Europe to have been awarded Speaker of the Year from both The Academy for Chief Executives and Vistage (formerly known as The Executive Committee), Nigel is a respected author, television presenter and a prolific speaker. He speaks with authority: his own life having veered perilously away from comfortable norms at times. He has learned – the hard way – that positive results can come from negative experiences, and that we often learn best from situations which are unfamiliar and even uncomfortable. Nigel's presentations are always lively and unusual. Delegates emerge fired with enthusiasm and raring to go - and, most importantly, have the information that will help them to realise their goals.
Emma Knights
Emma Knights is Chief Executive of the National Governors’ Association (NGA) - the leading charity for guidance, research, advice and training for school governors and trustees. Prior to her appointment in 2010 she was joint CEO of the Daycare Trust. Before that, she worked in a number of roles in the voluntary sector, particularly in the Legal Services Commission, Citizens Advice and the Local Government Association. As well as leading projects on child poverty and educational attainment, Emma has written on a wide range of topics and is co-author of the Chair’s Handbook. She regularly addresses legislators and the media on governance issues, as well as school governors, trustees, clerks and school leaders. She was a governor at a secondary school in Warwickshire for seven years and recently became a founding trustee of the Foundation for Leadership in Education. Follow Emma on Twitter @NGAMedia.
