Call for Evidence

Public Sector Efficiency Challenge

The Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne is calling on all public sector workers, including those within the education profession, to take the Public Sector Efficiency Challenge

On 25 November the Chancellor George Osborne MP and Chief Secretary to the Treasury Greg Hands MP will publish the results of Spending Review 2015. This will set out the government’s plans to invest in its priorities and deliver the savings needed to finish the job of repairing Britain’s finances.

To inform the Review, the government wants to hear directly from public sector workers such as you on how they can deliver improved public services with less money.

This survey is your opportunity to tell central government where the waste is and your ideas for how things could be done better or more efficiently.

Please give as much information about your idea as possible, as it will help them to work out how it could be taken forward in practice.

The survey will close on Friday 4 September at midnight. If you have more than one idea, you can complete the survey several times. It should not take more than 5 minutes to complete.

NASBM’s work on a Professional Standards Framework is gaining momentum and the feedback we have received from all stakeholder groups has been extremely encouraging. The contribution to the consultation process made by our panel of SBM practitioners has been invaluable as we work through each element of the framework.

Given the scope of the framework we believe that the most sensible approach to the open consultation process is via manageable sections commencing with finance and we are now ready to share this work.

The link will take you to the consultation survey on each section, an overview document and a bird’s eye view of the framework.

Consultation on the finance section: closed on Friday 26 June, 664 responses were received.

Consultation on the Leading Support Services and Core: closed on Friday 3 July, 119 responses were received.

Consultation on infrastructure: closed on Friday 31 July, 155 responses received.

Consultation on Procurement: closed on Friday 7 August, 93 responses received.

Consultation on Marketing and HR sections is now open click here. Closes on Friday 28 August 2015.

Your views and comments are really important to us and this is your opportunity to help shape the future of your profession.
