The overriding purpose of this post is to work closely with the Headteacher as part of the senior leadership team to introduce an entrepreneurial approach to the management of the school’s resources in order to promote and develop the highest achievement of both students and staff. This is a full-time post. Salary commensurate with experience in the range: £46,000 - £55,000.

Selly Park Technology College for Girls is a high performing 11-16 specialist school in Birmingham, West Midlands. We are looking to appoint a Strategic Business Manager to play a full and active part in the School Leadership Team. The successful individual will have specific responsibility for financial matters and for support services within the school to ensure that appropriate provision for Teaching and Learning is in place.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful school in a strategic role. If successful, you will report to the Headteacher and will directly advise the leadership group.
To be considered, you will have strong financial acumen and the ability to provide direction, facilitate change and manage a diverse team across a range of functions. Previous experience within a similar role working in a school environment and relevant qualifications (e.g. CSBM/DSBM/other relevant financial or management qualifications) would be beneficial but not essential. Strong ICT skills and the ability to prioritise effectively will also be key.
The role will involve:
- Taking responsibility for all aspects of school financial management including:
- Managing school resources through effective strategic planning to ensure best use and value for money. Producing long-term budgets and sustainable proposals for spending.
- Managing and monitoring budgets and payroll; overseeing the preparation of financial reporting; using Financial Management Information to directly advise the leadership group and governors.
- Maximising funds through income generation streams and cost-effective procurement of various services and insurances for the school.
- Managing support services teams within the school including finance, human resource management, ICT, estate management, whole-school administration and marketing.
- Risk management and ensuring sustainability including overseeing health and safety.
- Taking responsibility for Human Resource Management.
