IOSH Accredited H&S Training for Schools

This 2-day introductory programme to managing health & safety in schools awards the IOSH Certificate which is subject to renewal every 3 years. A number of School Business Managers worked in conjunction with Owen David Risk Management Ltd who deliver the programme, to produce a tailored programme specifically meeting the needs for managing health, safety and risks in schools. 

 

  The objectives of the programme are to:

  • Provide a recognised and accredited IOSH qualification for School Business Managers and school colleagues
  • Understand the broad spread of legal and moral responsibilities across the school
  • Understand more about the costs of accidents, causation and prevention
  • Apply the general principles of Risk Assessment in relation to hazard and probability
  • Know and understand the principal hazards in the school environment and the management and controls of each
  • Be able to establish and run an Active Monitoring Inspection Programme involving all School Managers
 

This 2-day residential programme covers 6 modules:

  • Introduction & overview of health & safety management
  • Principles of effective health & safety management
  • Health & safety law
  • Risk assessment
  • Managing the risks in schools
  • Assessment & project

The programme will particularly focus on school trips, fire, asbestos, design & technology, slips and trips, stress, lone working, control of contractors, workplace and school transport.
