NASBM's 2010 National Conference will take place on 18-19 November at the Metropole Hotel, Brighton

Conference Programme

The programme is currently being finalised but will include keynote presentations by:

  • Mike Baker, Education Specialist - BBC TV & Radio Broadcaster and Journalist
  • Professor Sir Geoff Hampton, Deputy Vice-chancellor and Director of the Midlands Leadership Centre
  • Dugald Sandeman, Director of Schools Resources Group, DfE 
  • Francesca Martinez,  motivational speaker

Delegates will also have the opportunity to attend workshops which will include presentations on the following:-

  • Child Protection - A Legal Update for Schools on Safeguarding presented by Yvonne Spencer, Veale Wasbrough Vizards.  This presentation received excellent feedback at our Regional Conference in London in February. 
  • Fundraising and Obtaining Grants in Schools.  Separate workshops will take place for primary and secondary schools.
  • What can SBMs Learn from Strategic Leadership Challenges in other Sectors
  • Motivating Others who may not want to be motivated. 'Great people make others feel great'
  • Laughter Yoga presented by Square Peg Workshops.  Combining unconditional laughter and yogic breathing for a complete wellbeing workout.

There will be an exhibition which will run alonside the conference. A Gala Dinner is planned for the night of Thursday 18 November.

Charity

This year we are pleased to be supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, which needs to raise over £50 million each year to make sure the hospital remains the world-class pioneering institution it is today.  Support from fundraising events help them to buy vital equipment, fund pioneering research and rebuild and refurbish some of their hospital site.  Fundraising events for this worthy cause at the National Conference 2010 will include a Charity Auction to be held at the Gala Dinner and a raffle.  Donations so far include:-

  • Bed and breakfast in an executive room at the Hilton Waldorf, London
  • Bed and breakfast in a room with a sea view at the Hilton Metropole, Brighton,
  • Bed and breakfast at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, London
  • A Manchester United shirt  signed by Patrice Evra. 
  • Sunday night stay for 2 with 3 course dinner and full welsh breakfast at the Swansea Marriott Hotel
  • Compaq Mini Netbook 110C-111OSA donated by Riso
  • Signed London Irish Rugby Shirt donated by eteach
